It’s Thankful Thursday! Here a just a few things I am grateful for this week…
It has been a particularly rainy monsoon week here in Arizona, and I am thankful for the change of scenery it has provided. I’ve enjoyed the evenings full of rumbling thunder and gusty winds and the sound of rain falling on the roof as I fall asleep. I also love seeing all of the comments and photos my friends post on Facebook. We all love the rain. It’s such a nice change of pace!
Homemade Fruit Smoothies
I’m a big fan of breakfast and always eat it to start my day, but sometimes I need a break from the monotony of cereal or yogurt. My go-to breakfast treat is a homemade fruit and yogurt smoothie made in the blender. I use Greek yogurt to up the protein and staying power and love experimenting with different combinations of frozen fruits. Yum!
I drink iced coffee every morning and enjoy a latte or cappuccino, but there is something so ritualistic and calming about a nice cup of hot tea. With the rainy weather this week I have enjoyed brewing a cup of flavorful tea and sipping peacefully. I love the wide variety of flavors available and the process of steeping the tea leaves calms me. I’m looking forward to winter where there will be a pot brewing in my home at all times.
Anticipation of the Future
My mom sent me an email this week to let me know that she had purchased tickets for our family to attend the Luminaria Walk at the Desert Botanical Gardens this December and it filled me with joy and anticipation. It reminded me that there is a conclusion to this endless summer and that close family time is to come. I am thankful for the amazing feeling of anticipation for something nice in the future.
My Favorite Coffee Shop
I have a special place I like to go to work, read, or just enjoy the people-watching. It is a family owned coffee shop near my home called Coffee Rush. The coffee is always good, they have a wide variety of non-coffee drinks available, and it is situated in a beautiful location next to a small man-made lake that is tucked away and calming amidst the bustle of the city. I have spent many productive hours pounding out school papers and personal word counts at Coffee Rush and am thankful for the helpful staff who serves my caffeine fix with a smile.
Please leave a comment and let me know what you are thankful for this week!
Have a wonderful weekend!
