Ah, summer! Living in the sweltering heat of Southern Arizona leaves me wanting to do nothing all summer except curl up on the couch under a fan with a tall glass of iced tea and a good book. I finished up two summer literature courses that helped me along this month and was able to fit in quite a few fun reads as well.
For those of you who missed my initial post on this topic, I have decided to embark on a most enjoyable challenge to read 52 books in 2013. I have chosen to participate in the Goodreads 2013 Reading Challenge in which I select my own goal, and a book a week is what I came up with as truly doable this year. Each month I will give you an update on where I am in the challenge and what books I was lucky enough to indulge in. I’ll also include a link to Amazon.com for each book in case you would like to pick a read up for yourself.
In the month of May I have read nine books and according to the graph on Goodreads, I am at 79% of my goal, which is sixteen books (30%) ahead of schedule! Since I am so far ahead at the halfway point of the year, Goodreads has kindly suggested that I increase my goal, and after some consideration I think that sounds like an excellent idea.
I will increase my goal to 75 books for the year! This change brings me to 55% of my goal.
This month I read the following books. You may click on each one to see my review and purchase information.
I’m looking forward to another month full of reading. I’m done with summer literature courses, so all my books read for the remainder of the summer will be of my own choosing. I’ve got some great books lined up for blog tours and will also dip into my personal to-be-read pile for inspiration!
