All the creatures of the night gather in “the Hollows” of Cincinnati, to hide, to prowl, to party … and to feed.
Vampires rule the darkness in a predator-eat-predator world rife with dangers beyond imagining — and it’s Rachel Morgan’s job to keep that world civilized.
A bounty hunter and witch with serious sex appeal and an attitude, she’ll bring ’em back alive, dead … or undead.
Miss Riki’s Review:
This book is one wild ride! I haven’t read a ton of urban fantasy and am not all that familiar with what’s out there in the genre, but this book is highly original and fast-paced, with amazing lead characters and a deftly created alternate reality that sucked me right in.
What grabbed me right away was the interminable spirit and pure spunkiness of the main character, Rachel Morgan. She’s clever and sexy and just so darned fun to read about. With every misstep and thwarted plan she gets more interesting and I found myself rooting for her on every page. As if one intriguing lead character wasn’t enough, there are also two equally interesting and well fleshed out leads in the vampire Ivy and the pixie Jenks. The sexual chemistry between Ivy and Rachel is palpable and adds an interesting twist to the story and I fell in love with spritely Jenks, who always seems to be there to save the day.
With formidable foes in ever chapter, I loved the wild ride that this book took me on. Ever page is rife with conflict that builds to an exciting finish. It was refreshing to read a leading woman who isn’t only looking out for romance. In fact, the romantic element in this book is pretty low-key, leaving plenty of room for all of the high stakes action.
This is only book one in a series, so thankfully there’s plenty more Rachel Morgan to indulge in. I’m definitely headed for the next book.
