Detective Braydon Thatcher knows about evil. After being cheated out of the chance to find peace years ago, he’s vowed to help others find justice. When women in town start disappearing, Thatcher must right old wrongs while teaming up with an outsider. Not that she’s given him much choice.
Sophia Hardwick is a self-made woman determined to find her sister before she loses her only true family. A task made more complicated by the growing attraction between Detective and Citizen. Together they must use their differences to stop a kidnapper before it’s too late.
Miss Riki’s Review:
This debut novel by Tyler Anne Snell was everything I had hoped it would be. I love a good detective story, and this one is smart and sassy with all of the intriguing elements of a murder mystery wrapped up with a sexy romance.
What I loved the most about this book was the deft characterization. Sure, our hero Braydon Thatcher is sexy as hell, but he’s also all sorts of tender wrapped up in a hard shell. He’s more than just a badass detective- he’s smart and sympathetic and oh-so-easy to root for. This brings us to our leading lady.
As Braydon fights his inner demons and faces a past that has come back to haunt him, he develops a close relationship with Sophia Hardwick, who is no softie herself. I love a smart heroine, and in Manhunt, Sophia has more than one opportunity to prove that she’s more than just a pretty face. She’s brave as all get out and makes an equal match for Braydon’s affections. How can you not fall in love with two strong-willed and dynamic characters that have more going for them than good looks and charm? Both Braydon and Sophia have internal motivations and external conflict that propel the story forward. Their chemistry leaps off the page and you absolutely feel the desire for them to be together.
As for the plot- this book moves a wonderful, fast pace and never lets up. From the very beginning we are presented with conflict and a mystery so well plotted. Each chapter leaves you wanting to turn the page and find out the next clue. Besides two compelling lead characters, we are introduced to a small town setting and a cast of secondary characters essential to solving the mystery of three missing women. (I personally loved Cara- one of my favorite characters in the novel).
This book has it all- a compelling mystery, a sexy lead detective, a smart leading lady, a truly haunting villain, and plenty of edge-of-your-seat action. It’s smart romance and a deftly plotted mystery all wrapped up in one neat package. You’ll love these characters and won’t be able to stop reading until every last stone is turned and the mystery is solved.
