I am so pleased to be a part of the official blog tour for Abby Cavenaugh’s latest novel, AFTER THE FALL! I really enjoyed reading Tina’s story, as you’ll see below! I’m excited to share all the details about the book and the author, along with my own review. Plus- there’s an amazing giveaway, so be sure to enter below!
About AFTER THE FALL:
High-profile divorce? Check.
Time away to heal? Check. Six months.
Distance from her celebrity ex Michael Day? Almost.
After ending the relationship that defined her, Tina is desperate to get her life back. But, a sexy bartender who happens to be ten years her junior might not be the best way to do that.
Shaking off the pain of the past, Tina decides the old rules no longer apply. For the first time in a very long time, Tina is free to do what she wants with whomever she wants. And Tina wants Josh.
Tina’s first fling after her divorce has the potential to be something more, if only Josh wasn’t a struggling musician.
She watched Michael’s career soar beyond his wildest dreams, only to get swallowed up by the fame and fortune that came with it. In the end, Tina was left with a broken marriage, a broken heart, and a custody agreement.
Tina wants to focus on herself, to finally find a place in the world that doesn’t come from marrying a celebrity. But if she ends this thing with Josh and focuses on a career, she might lose her one shot at happiness.
AFTER THE FALL is Abby Cavenaugh’s second novel and a follow-up to her bestselling GOING HOME AGAIN.
Miss Riki’s Review:
This was a delightful book! With super likable main characters, a romantic plotline, and a compelling conflict, it had everything I live about romance and women’s fiction.
To begin, I loved Tina as the heroine. I enjoyed seeing her fight her way back from heartbreak to find that she is worthy of the kind of love that our hero has to offer her. She’s a strong woman from the start, but it takes some faltering and running away before she realizes that she has been enough all along. When she meets Josh during a night out with her best friend, she finds exactly the motivation she needed to do exactly what she wants in life. But before romance, Tina is first and foremost a great mother and a wonderful friend. She is easy to root for!
Josh was the perfect hero in this book. He is ten years Tina’s junior and hot as can be- the perfect distraction for getting Tina’s mind off her ex husband. His devotion to Tina is heartwarming, as he fights to be her man, even as she takes two steps back and falters in her realization that they might be falling for one another. The fact that he never once loses faith in her or their relationship made him so appealing to me as a reader. I was full on cheering for him to make her see reason! And doe he ever. The payoff in the end is so worthwhile.
AFTER THE FALL is fast paced and fun, with lots of great dialogue and sweet moments throughout. The romance is steamy in all the right ways, with pretty tame bedroom scenes. I enjoyed the lead characters and found this book to be highly enjoyable.
Just a note: I haven’t read the first book in this series (I didn’t realize there was one until I had already read AFTER THE FALL!) but I will definitely pick up GOING HOME AGAIN. I liked Abby Cavenaugh’s writing style and would definitely be interested in more from her.
