Yesterday I was so happy to share the love for the latest release in the Backstage Pass series, ANYA AND THE SHY GUY (read my review here), and today I have something super special to share with you. I am so excited to introduce you to the author, Suze Winegardner! She has graciously stopped by today with an awesome interview featuring everything from writing advice to her dream cast for the book! But first, here is a little bit about the book itself:
About ANYA AND THE SHY GUY:
Anya Anderson doesn’t just need a big break, she needs any break. Living on the streets doesn’t leave a girl many options, so when she scores a gig reporting on the Seconds to Juliet tour, she jumps at the chance to earn enough money to sleep somewhere safe. And the paycheck will get bigger—and keep her off the streets for good—if she can dig up dirt on Will Fray, the irritatingly hot “shy guy” of the band.
Problem is, Will Fray isn’t who everyone thinks he is. In fact, he’s not Will at all. Matt, Will’s identical twin, is actually the guy onstage, reluctantly covering for his brother while he’s in rehab. To make matters worse, Matt’s being shadowed by a cute reporter with troubled eyes determined to get the scoop. On him. And he’s having trouble finding the willpower to keep his distance…
But if the secret gets out, it won’t just be his head on a platter—it’ll be the whole band’s.
This Entangled Teen Crush book contains steamy make out scenes, graphic language, and a love story so hot your copy may spontaneously burst into flames. You’ve been warned.

And now….here is an interview with author Suze Winegardner!
Describe yourself in five words.
British. Optimistic. Cynical. Wordy. Cheeky.
What is the best piece of advice have you ever received in your writing career?
When you’ve written the words “The End” it’s really just the beginning. It’s so important to revisit your work, whether you leave it to percolate for a few weeks before you get stuck into revisions, or get someone else to read it, it’s absolutely the best thing you can do to your book. And when I say “someone else” I don’t mean your mom or your best friend. You need someone who is able to be brutally honest with you about the great and no-so-great things about your manuscript!
What is the most embarrassing thing you’ve looked up in the name of research?
Oh my goodness, where do I start? I edited romance novels for a few years and *gulps* you can imagine the things I had to check! My browser will never regain its innocence *strokes laptop*
What was your favorite part of writing ANYA AND THE SHY GUY?
Ohhhhh. Great question! I think it would have to be my research. Watching loads of boyband videos, including those delicious behind-the-scenes movies…and all totally legitimately in the name of research. It’s a tough job… But the scenes I enjoyed writing the most were the scenes where Matt and Anya were together, gradually figuring out their feelings for each other while discussing completely different things. And the scene in the rain, when all the guys jumped in to do their stage routine for their wet fans…and lastly, the rapport between Matt and his twin brother, Will. I was so sad to leave these characters when I finished my last round of edits.
Which actor/actress would you like to see playing the lead character(s) from ANYA AND THE SHY GUY?
I always saw Cam Gigandet as Matt, especially with his glorious eye make-up that he wore in Burlesque! And for Anya, I always visualized as Amanda Foreman: a little quirky, a little strong-willed, and always ready with a come-back!
What is an unknown fact or fun trivia about ANYA AND THE SHY GUY?
Ohhh that’s a good one… Look at this. This is the inspiration behind the Seconds to Juliet song “WET” (Woman Every Time). Is this hot or what? (see video)
Who is your favorite boy band?
Take That. But really only because it had Robbie Williams in it. Robbie rules. He was just such a bad boy. But lovable. But baaaad! Yup. I was a goner as soon as I saw him!
What are you working on now?
I’m working at completing a three book romantic suspense series that I write under my pen name. After that, I have so many plot-bunnies, I’m not sure which one is going to take hold!
Is there anything else you’d like to tell us?
Just that ANYA AND THE SHY GUY is a part of a five-book series, written by five different authors, so if you like it and want to see the other band members find the love of their lives, make sure you pick up AIMEE AND THE HEARTTHROB, MIA AND THE BAD BOY, AND DAISY AND THE FRONTMAN. The last book, ABBY AND THE CUTE ONE is coming next!
Thank you so much to Suze for stopping by and sharing with us! I am totally fangirling all over the place over here and couldn’t be any more grateful that you took the time!
