I am always excited to read a new Entangled release, and I was doubly excited to find out that the fabulous Brenda Drake had written one! I follow Brenda on social media and she is always so gracious and giving with her time and energy in the writing community, so I was naturally thrilled to read her work! Here is some information about her new release, TOUCHING FATE, coming out on October 12th!
About the Book:
Aster Layne believes in physics, not psychics. A tarot card reading on the Ocean City Boardwalk should have been a ridiculous, just-for-fun thing. It wasn’t. Aster discovers she has a very unscientific gift—with a simple touch of the cards, she can change a person’s fate.
Reese Van Buren is cursed. Like the kind of old-school, centuries-old curse that runs in royal families. Every firstborn son is doomed to die on his eighteenth birthday—and Reese’s is coming up fast. Bummer. He tries to distract himself from his inevitable death…only to find the one person who can save him.
Aster doesn’t know that the hot Dutch guy she’s just met needs her help–or that he’s about to die.
But worst of all…she doesn’t know that her new gift comes with dark, dark consequences that can harm everyone she loves.

Miss Riki’s Review:
This book was a ton of fun! I was hooked right away by the description, with an intriguing hook and a mystery to be solved. Plus, a romance with a foreign hottie to sweeten the deal? Yes, please!
Brenda Drake knows how to do tension and suspense so dang well, and the added element of time winding down to Reese’s eighteenth birthday added that ticking time bomb feel to the book that kept me rapidly turning pages long after my bedtime. I mean, really, the idea that Reese is cursed to die on his eighteenth birthday floored me, and I was hooked into finding out exactly how he would escape such a terrible fate.
I loved Aster as the main character in the book. she’s whip smart, with a wonderful sort of wry humor, and she’s fiercely protective of her family and friends. Having her be so devoted to her loved ones makes her ultimate dilemma on whether to save Reese at the expense of losing her nephew super complicated, and I loved every minute of the struggle. Thankfully Aster’s book smarts come in handy and she finds a way to circumvent tragedy on all levels. I loved having such a smart and capable main character in this book.
The romance between Reese and Aster is really sweet. It blossoms slowly from a very adorable meet-cute moment and I loved the two of them together. their witty banter and tender moments were everything I love in young adult romance.
This book is super intriguing, with a wonderful mystery and exciting magical moments. It is sure to please young adult fans looking for a swoon-worthy romance set off by a dynamic plot.
