I’m so super excited to welcome a very special guest to the blog today! My regular readers know how much I adore the Backstage Pass series, and how excited I get when a new novel comes out. Well, my interminable wait is now over with the publication of ABBY AND THE CUTE ONE! And oh, goodness, guys- is it ever good!
As if a new book in the series wasn’t enough, the author of ABBY AND THE CUTE ONE has so graciously offered to stop by and answer a few questions for us! So, without further ado, please welcome Erin Butler to the blog!
Before we get started, here is a rundown of the novel…
About ABBY AND THE CUTE ONE:
He’s cute. He’s famous. And he could ruin everything…
Every member of Seconds to Juliet has a girlfriend—except for Nathan Strong. Now the band’s manager is leaning hard on “The Cute One” to play the role of the band’s heartthrob. With the band’s sales in decline, it’s up to Nathan to keep the fans’ fantasy alive.
The plan is to stage a fake relationship and a fake breakup, and then let the fans fight to be the one to mend Nathan’s broken heart. Just one problem. There’s another girl in the picture–one Nathan can’t stay away from. In private, Nathan’s stealing kisses with the band’s new opening act, Abby Curtis.
If they’re caught, no one wins. Abby will be fired, and the band might not recover the success they need to survive. But even with the pressure mounting, Nathan and Abby can’t stop themselves from stealing one more touch, one more kiss. And it’s only a matter of time before it all falls apart.
Interview With Erin Butler:
Describe yourself in five words.
A twenty-something stuck adulting. 🙂
(I’m 33, but I feel like I should be way younger!)
What is something people would be surprised to know about you?
I’m a huge dork. Wait. Everybody knows that. J Hmm…I’ve trained in martial arts before. I work downtown in a fairly large city, so I think it’s important that I know how to defend myself should I need to.
What is the best piece of advice you have ever received in your writing career?
Write what you love.
I think that advice is soooo important because you have to spend a lot of time with your book before it’s actually released and I can’t imagine doing that for a book I wasn’t crazy about. Sounds like torture!
What do you listen to while you write? Or do you prefer silence?
I have to have silence! I wish I was the type of author who could write to music, but I just can’t. It’s because I always sing along to songs, and I can’t sing and write at the same time. I’m just not that talented.
What is the most embarrassing thing you’ve looked up in the name of research – or what do you think the government has maybe flagged you for?
I’m sure I’ve looked up something super embarrassing, but I’m drawing a blank! The only thing I can think of is how embarrassing it is that I still can’t get affect and effect down, and every single time I put that word in a book, I have to look up and see which one I want to use.
What was your favorite part of writing ABBY AND THE CUTE ONE?
My favorite part was incorporating all the music! I have such respect for singers, and wish I could sing myself. My most favorite scenes were the ones leading up to Abby’s audition and the actual audition. I actually get choked up reading that part because she’s thinking about her dreams being right there in front of her and all she has to do is go for them.
Which actor/actress would you like to see playing Abby and Nathan from ABBY AND THE CUTE ONE?
Nathan Sykes, who’s actually from the now broken up boy band The Wanted, and Candice Accola—Caroline from The Vampire Diaries.
I’m not sure if Candice can sing, but Nathan Sykes can. He’s amazing! You should check him out because he just went solo.
ABBY AND THE CUTE ONE is part of the wonderful Backstage Pass series, featuring fictional boy band Seconds to Juliet. Who doesn’t love a great boy band? Who is your favorite real-life boy band? (Bonus question- what’s your favorite song?!?)
I was obsessed with The Backstreet Boys when I was a teenager so I have a lot of fond memories from them, BUT I am such a One Direction fangirl, too. My favorite 1D song is “Steal My Girl”. My favorite BSB song is “Quit Playing Games”.
What is an unknown fact or fun trivia about ABBY AND THE CUTE ONE?
I named Abby after my ten-year-old niece, who’s a huge One Direction fan. BEST AUNT EVER! 🙂
We actually went to see 1D in concert this summer. Here’s a pic of us at the big event!
What are you working on now?
Right now I’m working on finishing up my Adams’ Witch Series. Book 1 and 2 are out, and I’m writing the 3rd.
Is there anything else you’d like to tell us?
About the Author:
Erin Butler is lucky enough to have two jobs she truly loves. As a librarian, she gets to work with books all day long, and as an author, Erin uses her active imagination to write the kinds of books she loves to read. Young Adult and New Adult books are her favorites, but she especially fangirls over a sigh-worthy romance.
She lives in Central New York with her very understanding husband, a stepson, and doggie BFF, Maxie. Preferring to spend her time indoors reading or writing, she’ll only willingly go outside for chocolate and sunshine—in that order.
