Ever since Cali’s parents told her she would amount to nothing, she has felt entirely inadequate. Friendless and alone, she takes on the mean girl role in hopes it will make her feel better–and Logan serves as the perfect target. He infuriates her with his obnoxiously long lashes, his all too perfect dimpled smile, and his complete lack of personality outside of his intelligence. It doesn’t hurt that he’s part of the reason her brother is dead, either. So Cali hates him, and he returns the favor. Thus, their prank-filled, insult-driven rivalry is born, and torturing Logan quickly becomes the highlight of her life.
About The Corollaria:
Emily has always felt like there was more to her parents’ mysterious death, more to her being sent to live with the Lyall’s when she was fifteen. And definitely more to her inexplicable infatuation with Luke, the Lyall’s youngest son.
Luke can’t help but be drawn to Emily. She has these perfect blue eyes, unlike any he’s ever seen. And he feels a fierce need to protect her. Suddenly, one night, changes everything. He feels conflicted about his feelings and his destiny, as he and Emily are suddenly plunged into a strange new world.
Fast paced and action packed, a romance between Emily and Luke begins to take shape just as they are thrust into an ancient war, caught in the crossfire of bloodlust, revenge and love.

Welcome to Refreshingly Riki’s stop on the Blog Tour for Rachel Harris’ latest novel, TASTE THE HEAT! As you all I know, I absolutely adore Entangled Publishing, and this book is one of the latest from their wonderful Bliss line. I’m pleased to share with you today an opportunity to win a special gift basket, as well as an awesome interview with Rachel herself! Sit back and enjoy!
About TASTE THE HEAT:
One sexy fire captain. One Cajun chef. One combustible kitchen…
When chef Colby Robicheaux returned home to New Orleans to save her family restaurant, the last person she expected to reconnect with was her brother’s best friend and her childhood crush. As tempting as a sugar-coated beignet, Jason is one dish she can’t afford to taste. Colby can’t wait to leave the place where her distrust of love and commitment originated and go back to Vegas.
Fire captain Jason Landry isn’t looking for love, either. Disillusioned by his past, he knows he should be focusing on finding the perfect mother for his daughter. But when he first sees Colby, all grown up and gorgeous, he can’t help but be drawn to her. And when she suggests a no-strings-attached fling, Jason can’t say no.
As their relationship grows more intense, Colby finds that Jason isn’t as easy to leave behind as she thought. Could turning up the heat on something real be worth the possibility of getting burned?
Interview with Rachel Harris:
Describe yourself in five words.
Enthusiastic, sincere, silly, blessed, tired (what can I say, I’m a homeschool mom/author *grin*)
What is the best piece of advice you have ever received in your writing career?
Surround yourself with other authors and people in the industry who both understand what you’re going through, and will lift you up when it gets hard. My favorite piece of advice to share is never stop learning.
What was your favorite part of writing TASTE THE HEAT?
Having an excuse to eat all my favorite foods!! Even though I grew up on them, I had to make sure I described them correctly, right? Actually, there’s a scene where my guy feeds my girl a delicious meal, but she’s blindfolded. My husband and I took the kids to one of our favorite local Cajun restaurants and ordered a bunch of yumminess, and proceeded to eat with our eyes closed, taking notes as we did on what things smelled like, and describing textures. My kids thought it was hilarious. The wait staff found us interesting. The other customers looked at us as if we’d completely lost our minds. 😉
Which actor/actress would you like to see playing the lead character(s) from TASTE THE HEAT?
I actually had my Flirt Squad girls help me with the casting and there were lots of great suggestions and ideas. For Colby, we chose Olivia Wilde
For Jason, we actually chose a yummy model,
but some actors that were discussed included Orlando Bloom and Sam Worthington.
What is an unknown fact or fun trivia about TASTE THE HEAT?
That it’s my secret plan to make you gain ten pounds while reading….he he he. No, seriously, I do talk about food in there a lot, but in New Orleans, that’s what life is about. Food, family, and laughter. I hope I’m able to get a little of our culture across on page 😉
E-Books or Traditional Paper Books?
BOTH! Honestly, I buy a lot of e-books these days because it is a) so easy to bring a ton with me when I travel, run errands, get my nails done, etc.; and b) because I have zero patience and want to read what I want to read that very instant lol. BUT there’s something about seeing the books on my shelf, holding them, smiling as I look at the spines all lined up, that make me happy. Especially as a homeschool mom, I love having books everywhere in my house for my kids to see and pull out instead of flipping on the television. So some books I’ll buy e-book, others I’ll buy print, and my absolute favorites, I buy both!
What are you working on now?
I have soooo many books coming out in the next year! I just finished all the proofing on A Tale of Two Centuries, my YA companion novel to My Super Sweet Sixteenth Century, that’s coming out in August. I also just finished edits on a YA Romance series for Spencer Hill coming out next year, The Fine Art of Pretending.
Drafting, I’m working on book 2 in my adult Love and Games series, Her Fake Fiancé, which is Cane’s book (Colby’s brother). This book will be out later this fall. Book 3 comes out early next year. I also have book 3 in my YA series, My Not So Super Sweet Life, releasing this winter. Whew!
Is there anything else you’d like to tell us?
Just a huge thank you for all the support and enthusiasm this last year. My first book baby released last fall, and I’ve been blessed with the most amazing readers and fans who have become my friends during the journey. I read every single tweet, Facebook message, Goodreads message, email, and comment, and I cherish each one. There are so many fabulous books out there—I know, I’m a bookaholic myself—so to know that people are out there reading my books and taking the time to let me know? Yeah, I’m a very blessed girl.
Enter here to win a TASTE THE HEAT gift basket with a signed print copy (exclusive), book swag, a blindfold, a box of New ORleans Cafe du Monde beignet mix, a DVD of No Reservations, and a first edition of Playing With Fires: Firehouse Recipes and their Chefs.
About Rachel Harris:
Rachel Harris grew up in New Orleans, where she watched soap operas with her grandmother and stayed up late sneak reading her mama’s favorite romance novels. Now a Cajun cowgirl living in Houston, she still stays up way too late reading her favorite romances, only now, she can do so openly. She firmly believes life’s problems can be solved with a hot, powdered-sugar-coated beignet or a thick slice of king cake, and that screaming at strangers for cheap, plastic beads is acceptable behavior in certain situations.
When not typing furiously or flipping pages in an enthralling romance, she homeschools her two beautiful girls and watches reality television with her amazing husband. Taste The Heat is her adult romance debut. She’s the author of MY SUPER SWEET SIXTEENTH CENTURY and A TALE OF TWO CENTURIES. She loves hearing from readers! Find her atwww.RachelHarrisWrites.com.
A huge thank you to Rachel for the opportunity to participate in this blog tour and for the amazing interview!

Without further ado, here is the interview with Julia:
Describe yourself in five words.Insatiably curious curvy romance novelist. What is the best piece of advice have you ever received in your writing career?HAH! In high school one of the strictest English teachers told me I didn’t have enough discipline to become a writer. It wasn’t good advice (and, frankly, who says something that negative to a 16 year old?), but don’t EVER tell me I can’t do something — it just makes me MORE determined. I’ve been earning an income as a writer in some capacity (fiction, nonfiction, business) now for years, so it was the “best” advice in terms of making me angry enough to prove her wrong. What was your favorite part of writing RANDOM ACTS OF CRAZY?Mavis the Chicken. Hands down.Which actor/actress would you like to see playing the lead character(s) from RANDOM ACTS OF CRAZY?The only actress I can fathom being young enough and having the range to do Darla is Jennifer Lawrence (Silver Linings Playbook was AMAZING). I am stumped for the guys. Really. I’d love suggestions from readers! What is an unknown fact or fun trivia about RANDOM ACTS OF CRAZY?I used to be a “sweeper” for fun for a short period of time and actually won a LOT of stuff! The people who do this day in and day out for years end up winning loads of small prizes and sometimes they really DO win big ones.E-Books or Traditional Paper Books? When I am sick and read I want a paper book. Otherwise I read on my mobile phone! What are you working on now?I’m wrapping up revisions/new scenes on It’s Complicated and putting the final touches on Suspiciously Obedient. Then it’s on to Random Acts of Trust, the next book in the “Random” series. You get to learn about Sam, the band’s drummer, and Amy, the library science grad student who has a past with Sam…and maybe a future.

Thank you so much to Julia Kent for the interview! I agree that Jennifer Lawrence would make an amazing Darla. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series!
Stay tuned Wednesday for my review of Random Acts of Crazy!
Playing for Keeps is the second novel in The Game series and tells the story of Megan and Aston. Sweet and careful Megan is overly protected by her best friend Braden (the leading man from The Love Game) and can’t admit that she’s in love with bad-boy Aston. Aston’s bravado is covering up a painful past and he never means to get involved with Megan. One night together changes everything.
I really enjoyed the first book in this series, The Love Game and wanted to like this book, but it ultimately fell short of my expectations. The book is trying really hard to be something it’s not. It wants desperately to be deep and moving, but it comes across as more melodramatic than touching. The emotion is forced and contrived.
Just like in her first novel, the author does have a very good male voice in Aston, but the voice of Aston’s Gramps, who plays a major role in the story, is disjointed and forced. Somehow Hart never manages to capture the voice of an elderly gentleman in an authentic way, so it comes across as a crude caricature of an older person. Also awkward are the flashback scenes in which Aston is speaking as a child. The child’s voice is not believable and once again tries to force emotion. In the end I had a hard time feeling anything for Aston despite his traumatic past. You have to make me want to have feelings for a character and unfortunately Aston is such a jerk to Megan in the beginning that it was hard to feel for him. Yes, I understand the author is trying to show his grand transformation, but the despicable behavior in the beginning was too much.
As for Megan, the book is clearly Aston’s story, but I would have liked to have heard more about his leading lady. Although the story flips between point of view to feature both characters, Megan is underdeveloped and flat. It’s hard to like a character I know very little about.
Are the sexy scenes steamy? Yes, undoubtedly so. However, the first sex scene occurs five pages into the novel and it was frankly too much too soon. I could have used more story to get to know the characters better. (You know, like foreplay. A New Adult author should know all about that). I like a good sexy scene as much as the next girl, but don’t need it forced on me right away.
After finishing Playing for Keeps I’m left disappointed. I really wanted more from this second book in the series. I’m not sure if the author has other books planned for The Game series, but she has unfortunately lost me altogether.
I’m pleased to share with you today the Cover Reveal for T.A. Foster’s new novel, TIME SPELL. TIME SPELL is an Adult Supernatural novel with a very Contemporary Romance feel. It is due to be released in late summer 2013. Here’s a little synopsis to get you primed for the release:
About TIME SPELL:
Ivy Grace is learning that magic–and love–are all about the right timing.
Follow the adventures of this spirited young Southern woman as she embarks upon a successful new career writing novels and movies that explore romantic mysteries of the past.
Ivy, a witch who spends her days practicing her brand of good magic in a sleepy little city, often travels back in time to observe events of yesteryear and turn them into compelling stories for her modern-day fans. But as her uncanny ability to weave enthralling historic tales lands her in the limelight, she quickly finds that fame sometimes comes with a price.
Evil forces now know who she is and threaten to reveal her family’s most sacred magical secrets.
With the help of her ruggedly handsome editor and a sexy supernatural ex-boyfriend, Ivy must unravel history while fighting to keep these ominous forces at bay.
Will Ivy be able to make the ultimate sacrifice for the people she loves the most?
T.A. Foster is a Southern girl whose heart and spirit are connected to the beach. She grew up catching rays and chasing waves along the North Carolina Outer Banks and now resides in the state with her adventurous pilot husband, two children and two canine kiddos.
Her long love affair with books started at an early age and as soon as she was able, she transformed imaginative stories into words on paper. Time Spell is T.A.’s debut novel, and the first in a series about a very adventurous, clever, and magical girl named Ivy.
T.A. has an undergraduate degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a graduate degree in Educational Psychology from Texas A&M University. When she’s not chasing her two-legged and four-legged children or trying to escape for date night, you can find her reading, writing or planning her next beach trip.
I’m pleased to be a part of the Blog Tour for Tracy Ward’s novel FAIR PLAY. It is a book from the Entangled Publishing’s Indulgence line, and regular readers know how I adore Entangled Publishing! I have lots of exciting things to share with you today, including details about the novel, a chance to win a $50 Amazon gift card, and best of all- an exclusive interview with Tracy herself! Sit back, relax, and enjoy hearing from the author.
About FAIR PLAY:
Writing three plays for a nationally acclaimed theater in Phair, Texas, wasn’t supposed to put my inheritance at risk and force me into constant contact with Noah Blake–the very guy I love to hate. But with one chance to prove to my controlling father that I can succeed as a playwright, I’ve developed a major case of writer’s block.
Cue Noah, my older brother’s best friend and the guy I’ve avoided since my crush-gone-bad days. And now my director thinks he’s the key to unleashing my creativity. He thinks Noah is my muse.
Discovering the fate of the theater is also in my hands, I have no choice but to collaborate with my worst enemy. But it’s more than just a great scene Noah inspires. Now everything I thought I wanted is put to the test. And the guy I swore I was over still has a hold on my heart.
Interview with Tracy Ward:
Describe yourself in five words.
TAW: Fun, adventurous, neat, unorganized (my stacks are not in order), night owl
What is the best piece of advice have you ever received in your writing career?
TAW: You can’t edit a blank page. That is so true. Any sentence, paragraph, chapter or manuscript can be fixed. But it can’t be fixed if it isn’t written. Sometimes I get hung up on trying to get it right the first time (and I’d like to meet the person who does) that I hinder my own progress. It’s never right the first time or sometimes even the fifth or sixth time, but every draft is a learning process. It may not be something you ultimately keep, but it gets you one step closer to knowing your characters.
What was your favorite part of writing Fair Play?
TAW: My favorite part was writing the role-playing scenes. Playwright, Ashlyn Carter, is experiencing a bad case of writers block and she’s basically forced to team up with her nemisis, who also happens to be her big brother’s best friend, to work past it. The chemistry between the characters really came alive when they let down their inhibitions and pretended to be someone they weren’t.
Which actor/actress would you like to see playing the lead character(s) from Fair Play?
TAW: I love Isla Fisher. She’s gorgeous, funny and would make the perfect Ashlyn.
What is an unknown fact or fun trivia about Fair Play?
TAW: Fair Play was inspired by Dallas’s Fair Park district. It’s a very artsy, cool place that’s recently been revitalized. From that, Phair, Texas was born.
E-Books or Traditional Paper Books?
TAW: E-books. I love being able to buy with a touch while sitting in the backyard swing.
What are you working on now?
TAW: I’m working on the follow-up to Fair Play, tentatively titled Fair Bet. Same small town setting, only this story is about Jessica, Ashlyn’s BFF from the first book, and Thomas, Noah’s NYC cousin.
Is there anything else you’d like to tell us?
TAW: I’m currently under contract for five more books with Entangled Publishing’s Indulgence imprint. Two more Fair books and another brand new “guy” series inspired by a play on words. I’m super excited about all these books. The rest of 2013-14 promises to be hectic and exhilarating at the same time.

Growing up the youngest child of a freakishly large family in a small Midwestern town means she never lacks for ideas, inspiration, or moral dilemmas. Being the wife of a corporate attorney, mother of two young children, and living in a Dallas suburb provides unlimited insight into the rest.
In her spare time, Tracy is a chauffeur, a maid, a short-order cook, a coach, a psychic/intuitive who always finds what her husband loses, a yoga nut, a mango margarita connoisseur, and a really bad dancer. She’s currently contracted through Entangled Publishing’s Indulgence imprint.
