I’m so excited to be participating in the Blushing Blog Shower, featuring author Katie Delahanty! This shower is all about promoting Katie’s amazing novels, IN BLOOM and BLUSHING, with a special emphasis on the wedding of the year! I fell in love with Olivia Bloom and her husband-to-be, rock star Berkeley Dalton, and I could’t be more excited to share a special guest post from Katie herself today.
What she’s put together for us is a playlist for Olivia and Berkeley’s wedding, full of songs that she would want Berkeley’s band The Brightside to cover. I’ve even included a couple of my own suggestions too! Is there anything quite as exciting as dreaming up all of the elements of a dream wedding? I don’t think so!
Katie has provided her dream playlist, along with a little insight into each selection, and I’ve added mine to the bottom of the list. So, without further ado- sit back and get ready to rock out with The Brightside with this amazing wedding playlist!
“You and I” by Stevie Wonder
This was our first dance song at my wedding, and I’m still partial to it! And Berkeley is a huge Stevie Wonder fan so this would definitely get a spin.
“God Only Knows” by the Beach Boys
Father/Daughter dance–again borrowing from my wedding… “God only knows what I’d be without you…”
“I’m a Believer” The Monkees
*Spoiler Alert* Mark may or may not lead a super group rendition of this song during the reception…
“Roll Out the Barrel”
Liv’s Pittsburgh roots require that there be a polka…
“Dancing with Myself” by Billy Idol
A favorite Brightside cover…their version became a wedding staple when they first covered it at Haynes’ wedding.
And… gotta have some “Uptown Funk” by Mark Ronson/Bruno Mars…
…an ode to the girl who can “funk up” like no other.
I got in on the fun and selected a few of my own favorites for the ultimate wedding playlist…
“Mr. Brightside” by The Killers
Besides sharing a name with Berkeley’s band in the book, I love The Killers and can picture wedding guests rocking out with them!
“Lady in Red” by Chris de Burgh
I can only imagine that a bride as fabulous as Olivia might not go traditional with a white wedding gown, and I can totally picture her showing up in a red wedding gown! This song would make the perfect serenade.
“I Want You to Want Me” by Cheap Trick
I feel like this song is a romantic plea that both Olivia and Berkeley can identify with, and I’d love to hear The Brightside put a rocking spin on it at the reception!
Thank you so much to Katie for stopping by and sharing her playlist with us, and for allowing me to be a part of the Blushing Blog Shower!
